NextCar - Used Car Shopping App

NextCar

NextCar started with the intent of being a subscription platform for used cars.

I joined one month after the first line of code was written as the lead of UX and designed the entire consumer experience.

I was tasked with creating a completely digital checkout process for researching, browsing, selecting, and subscribing to a vehicle on the NextCar app.

Launch

We launched in four months in beta and quickly ramped up to 30 subscribers.

Leading up to and during the beta program, I observed users test the application and incorporated their's and stakeholder's feedback into the designs to ensure that the core user flow was easy to understand and effective in getting users activated on our program.

As we launched and tested, skyrocketing used car prices made the business model of offering dealer-listed vehicles untenable at the time.

This macro-economic environment change led the business to seek alternatives, including a non-VIN-specific marketplace of vehicles based on preferences:

This design exploration, as well as the learnings and data from the beta launch, helped form the "program" concept we created for the launch of Autonomy.
